With natural disasters so prevalent these days, the one thing we can take away is the need for insurance. Hurricane Katrina showed us the need for flood insurance. The Southern California wildfires have showed us the need for fire insurance. And so on. Estimates of some 40 percent of New Orleans residents had no form of flood insurance pre Katrina even though the New Orleans is a high flood risk area. This is not at all out of the norm. It’s estimated that only about a quarter of homes in high risk areas are even insured for fire or flood insurance. This is unfortunate because flood insurance is some of the most affordable insurance available. It may take some individuals a lifetime to realize the American dream and purchase a home, but we’ve seen first hand how quickly that dream can be destroyed. So, if we can take anything good away from these recent disasters it’s the importance of being protected, especially for higher risk areas. Flood insurance isn’t the only important form of insurance. Disability insurance provides protection for you and your family as well. The question you need to ask yourself is that will you be able to provide for your family if you were unable to work. Disability insurance is a very valuable form of insurance that protects your income. It’s not just for the construction worker who needs to protect against injury. It is actually quite common for sickness or illness to sideline your career. Some 12 percent of the working class will have a disability lasting greater than 5 years before they retire. That’s a large number and a long time to go without income. You can’t just rely on workers compensation, as the accident would have to happen at work. Again, it’s important to remember that most disabilities happen from illness and not injury. Disability insurance protects against both.

Remember when Leno called the Edwards/Cheney debate “The Heart-Throb versus The Throbbing Heart? Well, the Throbbing Heart has caused another throbbing heart in the chest of his friend who he apparently shot in a hunting trip. This is slightly old news but I haven’t posted in quite a while so I had to touch on this for my few readers. According to experts, the 30 yards story is a little shaky because of the severity of the damage done. My take on this story is that Dick Cheney was a bit tipsy and shot his friend accidentally while aiming at some quail. While this was an accident, you shouldn’t drink before or during a hunting trip. I think Cheney didn’t meet with police immediately after the incident because he wanted to get the alcohol out of his system. This is sad and I hope the man survives.

It’s official. The summer Olympics are the black Olympics and the winter Olympics are the white Olympics. There, I said it. You were all thinking it. When
Marion Jones runs, the blacks will watch. When Xuqa Marchikovitchta from Ukraine jumps 50 feet in the air and flips with skis under her feet, the whites will watch. As I typed that last sentence, an American skater just won another Gold medal. We kick ass, no matter what race it is. USA! USA!
Right?…I can’t wait for Spring Break. There are a lot of things bothering me and I need this time to meet my new niece and to relax. If only crime scene technicians didn’t exist…

I will not be online during Spring Break as it stands now but if I make it to the net, I might Facebook message someone. This might be my last blog post before the break so have fun everyone!

Looks like I will be doing a weekly radio show about mortgages starting the first wednesday in March. I am really excited about posting these podcasts here as well. The show will be a half hour and will be on various real estate and mortgage topics. As I do mortgages in all 50 states, I am excited to start to spread the news about my mortgage team at the Davis Team at American Home Mortgage.

In my Contemporary Moral Problems course Thursday, this cute girl that I like said that she saw Osama bin Laden’s latest tape and that he called for a truce with America. bin Laden wanted America to withdraw from Iraq and if America left, Al Qaeda would leave the United States alone and never attack. She was upset because the Bush Administration refused to deal with the terrorists and dismissed the “truce.” As fine as this girl is, she has not a fucking clue what she’s talking about! There is no such thing as a truce with Al Qaeda. These terrorists, claiming to be defending Islam, are seeking to kill Americans anywhere and everywhere they can find them. Saying that we’ll leave Iraq won’t stop another terrorist attack, if it’s in the works. The only way to end this battle with terrorists is to finish what we never should have started in Iraq, bring our troops home, and replenish our military presence in Afghanistan’s surrounding areas to find Osama bin Laden and not shoot him or blow him up, but bring him to the United States where he’ll face true justice.
I feel like I’ve forgotten a lot the past few years. And I don’t know if I can just remember all of it just like that. I don’t even know if I’ll ever gain back what I may have lost. Maybe I haven’t lost everything. I can’t be sure. But I feel like I have. I use to believe in God.

I haven’t for awhile. The last time I even thought about it I told myself “Maybe.” But I think I took that to mean, no. Just not–there’s no God, and therefore no use to even worry about it. I don’t think I’ve been as happy with my life since then. Maybe it was something else that changed in my life, which is a very good possibility, but either way it’s going to be something that’s hard to pin-point. But maybe that’s why I think I’ve been different. I wish I could be sure. But hey, it’s a start.
Right…I think.

Well, there’s a first time for everything. Including me being on my own.

I sometimes think I’m more chemically imbalanced than most. Maybe everyone just feels that.

And I’ll just see where it takes me.

I wanted to be alone so that I could finally be okay with being…alone. I mean, with being myself and all that stuff. I haven’t felt independent for a long time. And I’ve been feeling great for the past month or so…god, I really thought it had been longer. But I’ve been awesome. But it’s still there. This little demon sitting on my shoulder. And then every once in awhile I do this stupid shit to myself. It’s like self-mutilation or something. I just decide one day to listen to Green Eyes or look at old pictures or…fuck, do anything. Everything still reminds me of him, it doesn’t matter what it is. I keep wanting to get a journal to write in, as opposed to this. But then I think, if I had something that I wrote in every day, what would I write? And the answer was clear. I hate thinking about love.

I put so much weight into that word and I wish I didn’t. Maybe it’s because…I don’t know. I don’t know why I’m trying to write all of this out right now. It would take forever. Eh, the party’s not until later.

Have we forgotten about 9/11? How can the Bush Administration even think that a deal to allow Dubai, a country with known past links to terrorism, to guard our ports is reasonable? The proper thought was not put into this. This sounds like a case of cheap labor to me. Either someone else wasn’t willing to take the right amount of money or there was just a poor error in judgment on the part of the people involved in making this decision. Anyone who doesn’t see the room for smuggling and terrorist infiltration into the company in this deal is extremely closed-minded.
I also am beginning to see (not really beginning) how things are dealt with differently by different people in the situation. Even though sometimes I wish the roles could be reversed. FUCK!

Broken-hearted man. The road can be cold and it’s always long. I love you but I can’t remember why. I tried to move on but I can’t. I tried to think of bad times, good memories are all I have. But you weren’t coming for me. For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone. I’m not your man. I will carry you as long as I can. How do I know when it’s time to stop? You swept me away. There’s a sign telling me I’ve got to go. I am thanking you. How can you tell when goodbye means goodbye? Love gets lost. Don’t say it’s over. For all I know there’s more that I don’t. Just do your best, it’s the only way to keep that last bit of sanity.
